The IBM(R) Communications Server for UnixWare 7 (CS/UnixWare) meets the challenge of today's changing business environment and lets you choose applications based on your business needs, not on your network. It supports Internet and intranet solutions in addition to its core function of offering access to Systems Network Architecture (SNA) host applications.

Enterprise-class Functionality: CS/UnixWare has an integrated TN3270E Telnet server for SNA network access by TN3270E-compliant clients anywhere in your TCP/IP network. It supports SNA connectivity in subarea networks and in peer-to-peer environments. With Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking(R) (APPN(R)) and Dependent Logical Unit Requester (DLUR) support, it provides a highly robust, low-maintenance networking backbone with improved bandwidth usage and greater reliability, scalability and performance. The SNA gateway function allows access to multiple S/390(R) and AS/400(R) systems, and provides dynamic access to backup computers to share the workload and improve availability. The Motif administrative tool provides an easy-to-use GUI, to simplify the dynamic configuration and administration of the system. The SNA API client/server support allows clients on Windows 95/NT(R) to use these SNA APIs unmodified on CS/UnixWare clients.

Connectivity: CS/UnixWare connects networks over a wide area network using SDLC, frame-relay or X.25. It connects networks over a LAN using token ring, Ethernet or Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI). It also allows channel attach directly to your S/390(R) using an ESCON adapter.

Power Programming: CS/UnixWare supports a wide range of 32-bit APIs for the application program developer, making it the ideal communications platform for your applications.

High Performance, Availability and Reliability: CS/UnixWare exploits SMP systems and lets you provide the highest reliability and availability in the market. It can load balance over multiple links while assuring connectivity if a link fails. For SNA API client/server applications and telnet users, it provides load sharing to improve availability and performance. With APPN and High-Performance Routing, it reroutes around network outages without disrupting a user's session. CS/UnixWare also offers flexibility in system management.

Additional Information: CS/UnixWare is available worldwide in English, French and German.
